Responsive Search Ads (RSA)

In this Ad Setup, we are creating Responsive Search Ads (RSA) in Google. Before reaching this stage, we had covered the Campaign and Ad Group setup in detail.

Creating a new Responsive Search Ad

In the case of responsive search ads, you can create up to 15 headlines, up to 4 descriptions which is a big jump from text ads. Then the algorithm will serve the best combinations for you. Unlike Dynamic Search Ads (DSA) that are fully automated, RSAs are partially automated, giving you more control over your headlines and descriptions.

In the case of DSA, Google fully automates your ad creation based on your existing website but in RSA, you have the choice to follow Google's suggestions or define your own keywords and descriptions.

This is the reason why I choose RSA and not DSA – because of greater control!

Input your final URL…

As for your headlines. It is worth clicking on ‘View ideas’…

Next is your ‘Display path’ which is like a virtual URL. This is what you want it to appear to searchers, but the destination will still be the Final URL that you set earlier.

Next, you can pin a headline to the top…

In responsive ads, your headlines will be rotated until a winning combination is found. One tip is to ensure the headline you pin contains your keywords that you bid.

Ensuring this headline sticks to position 1 in RSA

Select ‘Show this headline only in position 1’ to ensure your pinned headline sticks to position one and the rest can rotate. You should edit your headlines to attract more eyeballs and clicks.

Position 2 can also be pinned, and you can leave position 3 to be variable. When you start receiving traffic, you will eventually figure out the combinations that bring in better performance.

You can do the same for descriptions…

Google is giving you ideas based on your website and existing ads. Just ensure your descriptions flow naturally and are grammatically correct.
